A Family Day Care Educator is assessed by the Scheme to work in their own home providing education and care for children. Their home meets or exceeds the Scheme’s safety and hygiene requirements and they are contracted to provide a quality service in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, National Quality Framework and Standards, and Scheme policies and procedures.
Educators work with the Early Years Learning Framework and My Time Our Place to provide quality outcomes for children. This involves providing stimulating, safe and secure play environments which foster learning through meaningful experiences.
A Family Day Care Educator works autonomously in their own home running their own small business, while also being part of a professional team.
Educators are able to care for 7 children in total including the Educator’s own children who are under 13 years of age. Out of this seven 4 children can be under school age.
For taxation purposes Educators are classified as “self employed”.
